Skunk and flea

Skunk deodorizing and flea treatment, brought to your curb.

A $25.00 skunk deodorizing treatment and a $17.00 flea treatment, both with all-organic products, in the van outside your door in Orange, Woodbridge and Milford.

Chapter 01

Home remedies leave the smell in the coat, and fleas come back in a week

A skunked dog is rarely fixed by what is already under the sink. Spray soaks into the coat and the undercoat, and a rinse that only wets the top of the hair leaves the oils underneath to keep smelling. The dog gets rubbed, shakes, lies on the couch, and the smell moves into the house with them.

Fleas fail the same way from the other direction. One bath at home treats the dog that is standing in the tub and nothing else, so the eggs in the bedding and the carpet hatch and the itching is back before the following weekend. A treatment that stops at the dog is only half of a flea job.

If your dog took a hit in Orange, Woodbridge or Milford, the best first move is a phone call. Keep the dog out of the car and off the furniture where you can, and ring 203-804-6248 so we can find the next opening.

The van comes to you with a skunk deodorizing treatment and a flea treatment

Dog Gone Clean parks at your curb, so a skunked dog never has to ride in your back seat to get help. The skunk deodorizing treatment is $25.00 and works on the coat itself, with wet-down, treatment and rinse done in the van's stainless tub, then a blow-dry and brush-out so you can judge the result with a dry coat in your hand.

The flea treatment is $17.00. We only use all-organic pet products, from green friendly lines, which means no harsh chemical products in the tub with your dog. Either treatment can be added to a standard groom, which is priced by the hour at $65 - $85.

We take dogs up to 70 pounds, by appointment only, Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Tell us the breed, the coat and what happened when you call, and we quote a price range over the phone. The quote is firm once we see your dog.

Chapter 03

Call the same day, and treat the house as well as the dog

Skunk smell gets harder to move the longer it sits in the coat, so the same day is the right day to phone. Do not wait to see whether it fades. Towels, collars, leashes and any bedding the dog touched should go through a wash along with the dog's treatment.

For fleas, think of the home as part of the job. Wash the dog's bedding, vacuum the places the dog sleeps and rests, and keep up with the schedule for any preventive your vet has already given you. We handle the coat. If your dog is scratching until the skin looks raw or red, that is a question for your vet, not for the grooming table.

Cancelling matters because a van day is a booked day: give 48 hours, or a $25 cancellation fee applies. Matted coats are not groomed, for the dog's sake, so if the coat is tangled as well as smelling, call and we will talk it through before anyone parks.
